Bait is simple and well catered for, making The Retreat an excellent choice for anglers travelling from the UK.

On-site bait available – no need to transport large quantities
Bait bundles available to pre-order at checkout
Options include:
Krill & Cray boilies and liquids
Critta (insect and protein-based) boilies
Citrus Nut year-round bait
25kg pellet bags available (pre-order recommended)
Liquids, hookbaits, wafters, and pop-ups included in bundles

High-quality pellets such as Aller Aqua are also available, offering a proven, nutrient-rich feed that keeps carp actively searching for food.

This setup is ideal for hassle-free trips, especially for those flying or travelling light. Simply arrive, fish, and focus on making the most of your session without worrying about bait logistics.

FISH CARE
No fish are to be taken off site or even out of your swim under any circumstances.
No carp sacks are allowed on site.
Only use our Carp Cradles, Landing Nets and Retainer Slings on site.
Propolis has to be applied on to every fish captured.

FISH HANDLING
All fish over 40lb to be photographed in the lake.
Break down nets and carry to the cradle in a sling.
Any fish over 60lb to be immediately reported to the Ranger.
No retaining of fish for more than 5 minutes

RIG SAFETY
Barbless or Micro-barbed hooks only.
No Leadcore.
Rig tubing - must be used at a minimum of 60cm.
Rig checks will be done on arrival and are occasionally carried out for the safety of our fish.
We encourage the method of dropping the lead on a take.
Inline leads to be free running or drop off
Minimum of 15lb main line, no braid
Minimum 18lb hooklink
Recommend hook size, 2 or 4
No 360 or Spinner rigs

BOAT SAFETY
Boats only to be used in emergency.
Boats not to be used under the influence of alcohol.
Never pull for a break, go out in the boat.
Supplied Life Jacket to be worn at all times.
Bait boats allowed

CONDUCT
3 rods are allowed per angler, a maximum of 12 rods on the lake at any one time.
Please keep Hygiene and cleanliness paramount.
Use the urinal and not trees
Please respect the neighbours at the cottage, there is a 10mph maximum speed limit to and from the lake.
Dispose of all cigarette butts before you leave

RECYCLE
Please put all your waste in the correct recycle bins.
Do not pour your left over bait into the lake.
